Lawn Aeration

soil aeration services
Because of local soil conditions and weather conditions in Pittsburgh, many yards should be aerated at least once per year. Aeration is a special process that effectively addresses the common problem of compacted soil. Your property’s topsoil becomes increasing compact over time. Additional compaction occurs during dry spells or when the weight of snow, ice and heavy rains push the soil down. Even foot traffic from people and pets can contribute to compaction.

When your soil is too hard, you may notice that rainwater is not absorbed as quickly as it should be. Puddling is common when you run the sprinkler. The grass roots cannot receive all of the water that they need, and the effects of fertilization are not as profound as they should be.

Aeration is a special process that involves pulling small plugs of soil up out of the ground in regular, short intervals. Because the soil is removed, the remaining soil can spread out. This results in conditions that are more conducive for your grass to grow and thrive. Aeration requires the use of special equipment, and it can be a time-consuming, tedious chore to tackle on your own. If your lawn has not been aerated this year, put our skilled professionals to work for you.
